FRESNO, CA — The spotlight shifted, the style remained ruthless, and the city of angels found its wings on the mat.
Backed by an elite coaching staff and a hammer-heavy roster built for the upper-body grind, the Los Angeles Wrestling Association (LAWA) put together a flawless, undefeated masterclass to capture the Girls Greco-Roman crown at the 2026 CAUSAW Association Duals inside Selland Arena.
LAWA marched through the grueling 15-team field with a perfect 5-0 record, showcasing a terrifying mix of early-round dominance and cold-blooded clutch gene when the championship lights were at their brightest.
The Pool Play Destruction
From the opening whistle of the morning session, LAWA made it clear that they weren’t looking to win close duals; they were looking to end them early. Grouped in a dangerous pool, the LA squad systematically tore through the competition:
Round 1: LAWA opened the day by punishing Kings Tulare (KTWA) 51-24.
Round 2: The offense somehow found another gear, blasting the North Area entry (NAWA) 57-19.
Round 3: LAWA locked up the bracket’s top seed by dismantling a proud Mount Diablo (MDWA) program, 56-20.
By outscoring their pool opponents 164-63, LAWA entered the championship bracket with an absolute target on their backs as the undisputed team to beat.
The Medal Rounds: A Semifinal Surge and a Finals Thriller
In the championship semifinals, Tri-County (TCWA) attempted to slow the LA juggernaut down, but LAWA’s depth proved too much to handle, resulting in a decisive 49-28 victory to punch their ticket to the dance.
That set the stage for an absolute heavyweight epic in the finals against a loaded San Diego Imperial Kids Wrestling Association (SDIKWA) squad.
If the early rounds were a showcase of LAWA’s power, the finals were a test of their soul. The dual meet was a violent, see-saw war. Leads evaporated, momentum swung on every single whistle, and the two Southern California powerhouses traded haymakers through 15 grueling, contested matches.
With the referee’s book nearly full, the scoreboard read an unbelievable 35-34 lead for SDIKWA.
The tournament title came down to the absolute wire at the heaviest weight class. San Diego was forced to yield a forfeit at 235 pounds, handing LAWA the crucial 5 team points to seal a breathtaking 39-35 championship victory.

Reset and Reload for Freestyle
The Greco-Roman hardware is heading south on the I-5, but nobody is packing their bags just yet. The mats inside Selland Arena are already being scrubbed down and reset. With the upper-body restrictions lifted, the Freestyle portion of the tournament is scheduled to fire up immediately.
Will LAWA carry this golden momentum into the leg-attack game, or will the San Diego hammers or the Central Valley locals exact their revenge?
Stay tuned—the real weekend scramble in Fresno has only just begun.
