Mount Diablo Rules the Mats at 2026 CAUSAW Greco Duals

FRESNO, CA is dominant, there is elite, and then there is what the Mount Diablo Wrestling Association (MDWA) pulled off on the historic mats of the Selland Arena.

On a grueling Saturday that tested the grit, depth, and technique of the state’s absolute best regional pipelines, MDWA didn’t just win the Boys Greco-Roman crown at the 2026 CAUSAW Association Duals—they hijacked the entire tournament under the big lights in downtown Fresno.

Five dual meets. Five victories. A staggering 237-107 collective scoring margin. When the smoke cleared inside Selland Arena, Mount Diablo stood alone at the top of a 15-team mountain, leaving no doubt about who owns the upper-body terrain in California right now.

The Pool Play Blitz

The march to the title began in the morning pool cycles, where MDWA served notice to the rest of the state that they weren’t in the Central Valley to play close duals.

Round 1: MDWA kicked off the morning by punishing a tough Kings Tulare (KTWA) squad, 44-26.

Round 2: The offense accelerated into overdrive, crushing the Central Valley entry (CVWA) 50-18.

Round 3: MDWA locked up the bracket’s top seed by systematically dismantling Tri County (TCWA), 44-22.

Going 3-0 in pool play is one thing but doing it with that kind of punishing tempo set a terrifying standard for the medal rounds.

The Championship Climax: 7-Up and Shut Down

If the morning was a warning, the afternoon bracket inside the arena was a clinic.

In the semifinals, MDWA drew a dangerous Santa Clara Valley (SCVWA) roster. Any thoughts of an upset were quickly erased as Mount Diablo’s hammer-heavy lineup dictated the ties, hit the edge, and hunted for keys to secure a 47-24 blowout.

That set the stage for the grand finale: a heavyweight collision against the powerhouse Sacramento Area Wrestling Association (SAWA) for all the Greco marbles.

Dual meets at this level are supposed to be chess matches. Instead, MDWA turned it into a track meet right out of the gate.

Like a relentless drumbeat, Mount Diablo blew the roof off the arena by winning the first seven consecutive individual matches. Before SAWA could even blink or adjust their headgear, MDWA had stormed out to a jaw-dropping 30-3 lead.

SAWA scrambled to find an answer, but Mount Diablo’s depth was an absolute firewall. Winning 12 of the 15 contested weights, MDWA cruised across the finish line with a 52-17 championship statement.

2026 Greco-Roman Final Team Standings

While MDWA took home the biggest trophy in the trailer, the battle through the consolation traits shook up the state hierarchy. Here is how the 15 elite associations stacked up when the final whistles blew at Selland Arena:

No Time to Celebrate

The Greco-Roman hardware is packed, the team title belongs to the East Bay and its surrounding hammers, but the weekend is far from over. As the wrestlers scrub down and reset, the Selland Arena floor is already being recalibrated for the Freestyle portion of the tournament, scheduled to fire up and finish today.

Can MDWA pull off the legendary double-gold sweep, or will the southern and valley sections find an answer once low singles and leg laces are back on the menu?

Don’t blink. The madness in Fresno is just getting started.
