CIF San Diego Masters: Where the Road Meets the Rubber

The stage is set, the mats are mopped, and the atmosphere is electric! After a weekend of absolute carnage across four divisions, the San Diego Section is converging on Olympian High School this Friday and Saturday (February 20–21, 2026). This isn’t just another tournament—this is the Masters, the ultimate “win or go home” gauntlet where dreams of a State title in Bakersfield are either forged in gold or left on the mat.

Here is the breakdown of the powerhouse performances that have set the San Diego wrestling scene on fire!Division I: The Granite Hills “Blue Tide” Rolls In

Granite Hills didn’t just win Division I; they conducted a masterclass in wrestling dominance.

The Damage: A massive 356.5 points.

The Statement: They crowned nine individual champions and are doing something nearly unheard of—taking their entire squad to the Masters!

The Rivalry: Rancho Bernardo put up a valiant fight as the runner-up with 239 points. The Broncos are sending 13 warriors to the big show, led by their hammers at 113, 165, and 175 pounds. Keep an eye on those middleweights; they are hunting for State podium spots!

Division II: The Green Mean Machine is Unstoppable

If you want to see a dynasty in action, look no further than Poway High. The Titans showed exactly why they are a perennial Top-10 program in the nation.

The Scoreboard: A staggering 387 points.

The Perfection: They crowned 12 individual champions and—in a display of pure technical superiority—advanced their entire squad to the CIF finals.

The Chasers: Brawley High secured a strong second place (214 points) and will be bringing 12 grapplers to Masters, ready to play the role of giant-killers.

Division III: The Mavericks Reclaim the Throne

The “Green and Gold” are back! La Costa Canyon High proved they are once again the kings of Division III.

The Clinch: Triumphant with 240.5 points.

The Core: LCC saw four champions stand atop the podium and advanced six to the finals.

The Battle: Valhalla High pushed them to the limit, finishing as runners-up with 223.5 points. The Vikings are bringing a double-digit contingent (10 wrestlers) to Masters, proving that East County wrestling is deeper than ever.

Division IV: Small Schools, Big Hearts

Who says you need thousands of students to build a wrestling empire? Holtville High (with fewer than 600 students!) continues to be the “Little Engine That Could” (and Does!).

The Victory: 173.5 points to take the D-IV crown.

The Grit: With 2 individual champions and 10 Masters qualifiers, the Vikings are a dangerous “trap team” for any big-school wrestler who underestimates them.

The Chase: Mountain Empire finished a razor-thin second with 162.5 points, proving that the rural schools are bringing some of the toughest, most resilient wrestlers in the section.

The Stakes: The Golden Ticket to Bakersfield

The Masters is the final filter. In the San Diego Section, the margin for error is zero.

The Prize: Only the Top 4 finishers in each weight class earn the right to represent San Diego at the CIF State Championships (Feb 26-28).

The Venue: Olympian High School will be a pressure cooker. Expect high-intensity scrambles, heart-wrenching upsets, and the kind of grit that only shows up when a season is on the line.
