What we witnessed was nothing short of a symphonic display of grappling excellence, as the region’s elite wrestlers clashed in a high-stakes quest for divisional immortality and a coveted ticket to the Masters Meet.
The Central Division: St. John Bosco’s Reign of Terror
In an absolutely breathtaking exhibition of dominance, the Braves of St. John Bosco didn’t just win; they orchestrated a masterclass in wrestling superiority! Flexing their collective muscles with terrifying efficiency, the Braves amassed a staggering 414 points, eclipsing their nearest rivals by a monumental margin of over 200 points. They crowned a jaw-dropping 12 individual champions and are marching an army of 13 qualifiers into the Rough Masters Meet!
Their league adversaries, Servite High, battled valiantly to secure the runner-up position with a formidable 200 points, successfully advancing 8 of their elite grapplers. Palm Desert High ascended to the third-place podium, headlined by the sensational Alekzander Espinoza, who stood alone as the 113-pound sovereign. Not far behind, La Quinta High captured fourth with 138 points, while the perennial Orange County powerhouse Laguna High rounded out the top five with 125 points of pure grit!
The Coastal Division: The Barons’ Golden Blitz
Over in the Coastal Division, the Fountain Valley Barons proved exactly why they are whispered about in hushed, reverent tones as one of Orange County’s premier institutions! They dismantled the competition to the tune of 381.5 points, propelled by a magnificent 8 individual champions. By the time the dust settled, they had catapulted 11 wrestlers into the finals and secured 11 spots for the upcoming Masters Meet!
The South Hills Huskies emerged as the most dogged pursuers, clinching second place with 153 points and qualifying 6 grapplers. They were followed in rapid succession by a fiercely competitive pack: Alta Loma (142 points), Bishop Amat (138.5 points), and La Mirada High (135 points) in a thrilling race for divisional relevance!
The Eastern Division: The Ascent of Paloma Valley
The wrestling world must take note: Paloma Valley is on a meteoric rise! They surged to the pinnacle of the Eastern Division, capturing the team title with a robust 260 points. With two individual kings crowned at 132 and 175 pounds, they are sending a formidable contingent of 9 grapplers to the next stage!
The seasoned gladiators of Canyon Springs High showcased their veteran poise to take second with 206 points, while the “High Desert Power” of Victor Valley High claimed third, sending 5 triumphant Jackrabbits forward. Walnut High (183.5) and Bonita High (130) fought tooth and nail to secure their prestigious top-five status!
The Inland Division: Temecula Valley’s Golden Dynasty
At Temecula Valley, the word “rebuild” simply does not exist in their vocabulary—they merely reload with lethal talent! The Golden Bears dismantled the Inland Division in truly devastating fashion, racking up 297.5 points and qualifying a dozen warriors for the Masters Meet.
Their league rivals, Chaparral High, mirrored this excellence with a display of technical wizardry, securing the runner-up spot with 238 points and three individual titles. Meanwhile, the “Gold-blooded” Vikings of Northview High proved their perennial relevance by snatching third place, followed closely by the tenacious Trabuco Hills and the hard-hitting Chino High!
The Northern Division: Aztec Excellence in the South Bay
Esperanza High ascended to the throne of the Northern Division with a truly monstrous 380.5-point performance! The Aztecs were nearly untouchable, seizing 8 individual titles and qualifying a massive 13-man roster for the Masters.
The Spartans of South Torrance High brought the “South Bay Power” to the podium in second place, while the Valencia Vikings showcased their championship pedigree in third, boasting winners at 132 and 165 pounds. El Dorado and Villa Park finished the weekend as the fourth and fifth-ranked titans in this incredibly deep field!
The Southern Division: Hesperia’s High Desert Triumph
Finally, in the Southern Division, Hesperia High reigned supreme! With a triumphant 255.5 points and 3 individual champions, they have signaled to the state that the High Desert is a force of nature. They were pursued relentlessly by the Eastvale Roosevelt Mustangs, who galloped into second place with 228.5 points.
The Corona Centennial Huskies claimed the bronze position, advancing 7 wrestlers of their own, while Etiwanda and Sultana closed out the top five in a spectacular finale to a weekend of pure, unadulterated wrestling brilliance!
