Section Performance Analysis

The Heavy Hitters: Southern Section (SS)

The Southern Section had the most medalists by a wide margin (48). Their depth was most visible in the consolidation of the lower and middle-heavy weights. Notably, in the 135 lbs and 140 lbs brackets, the SS claimed 4 of the 8 available medals in each.

High Efficiency: Central Section (CS)

While the Central Section had fewer total medalists (18) than the SS, they were incredibly efficient at reaching the top of the podium. With 4 State Champions, they proved that their top-tier talent (led by Buchanan) is among the best in the nation.

The Consistency: Sac-Joaquin (SJ)

The SJ section maintained a steady presence throughout the tournament with 15 medalists. Yzabella Austin’s dominant MD in the finals at 140 lbs highlighted a strong showing for the section.

The Minimums: NS and LA Sections

The Northern Section (NS) and Los Angeles City Section (LA) had the fewest medalists with 3 and 2, respectively.

NS: Earned medals at 120, 235 (7th), and 235 (5th).

LA: Earned medals at 115 (7th) and 155 (5th), both coming from Birmingham High School.
